Best Time to Visit Bali: Weather, Dry Season & Crowds

The best time to visit Bali is April to October — the dry season. But which months are the sweet spot? A data-first breakdown.

The best time to visit Bali is during the dry season, roughly April to October. But that six-month window has significant internal variation — and picking the wrong month within it can still mean crowds, high prices, or unexpected downpours.

The dry season sweet spot: May, June, September

These three months are, statistically, the best time to go to Bali. Rainfall is low (under 80mm per month), humidity is bearable, and the crowds haven't peaked. Bali in June averages 27°C by day, 23°C by night, and around 6 hours of daily sunshine.

July – August: peak season

The busiest months. European and Australian school holidays. Ubud and Canggu are packed. Prices for good villas double. If you don't mind crowds, the weather is genuinely lovely — dry, sunny, breezy.

November – March: rainy season

The wet season is real. December in Bali averages 320mm of rainfall across around 22 rainy days. Not permanent rain — often afternoon thunderstorms with sun in the mornings — but enough to disrupt beach days. Hotel prices drop, though, and inland Ubud is at its greenest.

April and October: shoulder magic

The transition months. Some rain, but mostly dry. Fewer crowds, lower prices. April is a particularly good compromise for divers — visibility is excellent as the wet season winds down.

Bali weather in December: is it worth it?

If you can only travel in December (holidays, school breaks), Bali is still worth it — just adjust expectations. Book accommodation with good indoor spaces. Focus on Ubud rather than the coast. Expect afternoon rain, plan mornings accordingly. Prices are also lower than August.

Quick verdict

  • Best overall: May – June or September
  • Best for value: April or October (shoulder season)
  • Best for diving: April – November
  • Avoid if possible: January – February (peak wet season)
